DR. J | PEDIATRICIAN AND MOM

“When families are fully supported, they thrive. My goal is to help families optimize their health, happiness, and peace.”

  • Dr. J, as she loves to be called, is a Pediatrician, wife, and mother of three with over a decade of experience in well and sick child care, complex care, children with special needs, public health, youth development and managed care.

    Dr. J is a proud University of Virginia graduate (Wahoowa!). She attended Columbia University for her Master of Public Health degree and The George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at the University of North Carolina’s Pediatric Primary Care Program.

    Through Healthy Home Pediatrics, Dr. J collaborates with families to provide comprehensive primary care that integrates traditional evidence-based interventions with customized plans that prioritize healthy foods, quality sleep, integrative medicine, and healthy family routines.

    When Dr. J is not providing excellent patient care she is spending time with her husband and their three children (2 boys and a baby girl). She is actively involved in her community as a volunteer Clinical Instructor at The George Washington University School of Medicine, local Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and Community Association.

    Dr. J enjoys listening to podcasts, cooking, urban gardening, and exercising.

NURSE KIMMIE | NURSE AND MOM

“Families are so busy these days, they are constantly being pulled in different directions. We are committed to partnering with families so they can make the healthiest decisions resulting in the happiest families.”

  • Nurse Kimberly, or Nurse Kimmie as she is called, is very passionate about holistic practices as well as vaccine compliance. Through her over 20 years of experience as a nurse she is able to understand and empathize with parents from all walks of life. Nurse Kimmie has extensive experience in pediatrics, family medicine, and ambulatory care. In her role at Healthy Home Pediatrics, she helps coordinate vaccine and school compliance with the physician team.

    Nurse Kimmie is able to empathize with the parent who is hesitant about giving their children vaccines or the parent who wants nothing to do with vaccines. Nurse Kimmie has learned that through taking time to explain how vaccines work and how they help prevent serious illness in kids, that many parents are open to discussing vaccines more. She has learned that families simply want to feel listened to, respected, and valued.

    Nurse Kimmie has been a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for over 20 years and has extensive experience in pediatrics, family practice, and ambulatory care. She has worked for some of the best practices in the DMV such as Kaiser Permanente and Children’s National Medical Center. Kimberly is a well seasoned and knowledgeable nurse.

    She is married with one daughter in college and one son in grade school. In her spare time she likes to garden and spend her time with her family.

MS. SHEILA | OFFICE MANAGER & EVENT ASSISTANT

“I really enjoy helping organize the office. The space is so beautiful and inviting for patients.”

  • Sheila has over 20 years of experience in social work, administration, and leadership. She bring her extensive organizing experience to the team.

    She manages mailings, supply management, and event set up.

    When Sheila is not working, she is spending time with her 3 grandchildren and her husband. She is active with her local business sorority and her church family.

AMBER | EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT & OPERATIONS MANAGER

“I provide dedicated email, task management and administrative support, with a focus on operational excellence. My objective is to support Dr. J in breaking free from tasks that take her away from doing what she loves - caring for her patients!”

  • Amber was raised in Durham, NC, but spent the majority of her adult life in Atlanta, GA. She began her career as an Analytical Chemist in Charlotte, but soon after transitioned to Medical Sales gaining over 15 years experience, until she decided to resign in 2021 to pursue her passions.

    Today, Amber is a business owner and trauma-informed Pregnancy Loss Practitioner. Additionally, she is co-founder of an organization that provides holistic mind-body-spirit healing retreat experiences for women in Costa Rica.

    At Healthy Home Pediatrics, Amber is the lead on the scheduling and operations teams. She brings her extensive business, systems, and management experience and always has insightful new ideas.

    Amber has always been very passionate about health and wellness, and the importance of healing the total body utilizing conventional and alternative techniques and modalities. When she isn't holding space, supporting women on their healing journeys, she enjoys reading, spending time in nature, creating herbal remedies for her family and exploring Costa Rica with her husband and dogs!

 

Beata

BEA | EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT, SUMMER INTERN COORDINATOR & MARKETING ASSISTANT

“It is invaluable to listen to patients so that they feel heard. Especially in pediatrics, listening to parents is essential.”

  • Beata is an educator and project manager based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Born into a medical family, she pursued medical training but found her passion in educating future doctors. For almost a decade, Beata has taught courses in women’s health to undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducted emergency care trainings for healthcare providers in Tanzania as an AHA Basic Life Support instructor, and served as a quality assurance lead for medical universities, ensuring compliance with institutional and external regulations and supporting process improvement initiatives.

    On the Healthy Home Pediatrics Team, Beata is our editing expert. She loves organizing and planning and excels on our team with these skills.

    In her spare time, Beata enjoys a good movie, baking, crocheting and coming up with herbal tea blends. She also spends time exploring new hobbies, and is currently immersed in learning about massage therapy, game-based learning in medical education and lifestyle medicine.
